Even though it can seem that way.
We live in a world where we're often taught that shifting requires changing things on the outside (our job, home, relationships, etc.) - making it easy to believe that shifting one's circumstances will bring the desired lasting change.
While these approaches offer temporary relief, they often fall short of long-term quantum shifts. That's because lasting change requires a deep trust of self.
Today, more than ever, it's all too common to feel overwhelmed by life. And If you're here, chances are you're not searching for someone to solve your problems for you. Instead, you understand that you're a multifaceted individual, shaped by your past experiences; coming into this world as an acorn with a certain set of expectations for your big, beautiful, oaky growth.
Regardless of your current circumstances, it's likely that you've explored various approaches. Yet, if you're anything like those I've worked with, you're probably deeply self-aware and recognize there's something more required to unravel your current situation. That's where I come in.
I recognize we're each on our own soul's path. I'm not here to fix anything about you. I will meet you where you are, offering a perspective that's not just about rehashing the past, it's about listening to what your deep self is urging you to understand.
No matter what questions you're grappling with at the moment, the answers are often closer than we realize. I offer a place and a time to explore life's big questions with care, curiosity, and specific attention to discovering the answers that are true for you. I don't come to the sessions with a container full of answers, instead, I come with tools that come from my training in Jungian and Archetypal Studies, wilderness rites of passage, brainspotting, and process work. These tools are the most effective resources I know for getting to the core of the soul and its calling. We'll work together to help you discover your own inner allies, resistances, relations, and resources.
Brainspotting is a therapy that uses eye movements to help people deal with tough emotions and past traumas. Practioners identify specific eye positions, called "brainspots," linked to emotional issues. By focusing on these spots, individuals can process and release stored emotions and memories which can lead to reduced emotional distress, improved mental well-being, and a sense of resolution. That's why Brainspotting is quickly becoming an invaluable tool for addressing various psychological issues, including trauma, anxiety, stress, and growth.
Soul Writing is an experiential writing modality designed to listen to what the soul has to say to us. This is spontaneous in-session writing, exploration of dreams, loosening the imagination, identifying synchronicities, and tapping into metaphors. The primary aim of Soul Writing is to find inspiration, get creative, uncover new and hidden stories, and most importantly deepen your faith and respect for the imagination and its roots in the unconscious. The intention is to develop a newfound sense of your soul's connection to your writing so that you know, deep in your bones, that your stories not only matter...but need to be heard.
"I was looking for someone who could think out of the box a little bit. My experience with Mark exceeded my initial expectations - he was able to delve deeper into the psyche than I thought. When we started talking about archetypes that's when it really clicked. I understand myself more. I realized I can do great harm but in the fear of that realization, I learned it means I can also do great amounts of good. It was like becoming a phoenix and rising through the ashes. I would definitely describe the journey as a spiritual one, like an internal puzzle where failure was met with misery but success was met with hope and clarity.

*How can I find a more meaninigful path at this stage of my life?
*How can I feel safe in the world when I'm anxious all the time?
*How can I put myself first when others need my full attention?
*How do I develop practices that help me show up in the world?
* How do I live authentically and true to myself, even with all my insecurities and fears?
*How can I overcome conditioned ways of thinking that no longer serve me?
*How do I get past the trauma that constantly gets triggered in my life?
I take a holistic approach because I know the soul always leads the way. Releasing stuck patterns often requires a deeper exploration of one's thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors. With candor, creativity, and compassion we learn about who we are and dig into the reasons behind our habits. In my work, I take a Jungian approach, focusing on these three pathways to releasing stuckness:
There's a change happening in how we think about mental well-being. Ancient wisdom always knew the body mattered for mental health. Now, modern psychology is catching up, especially for things like PTSD. Instead of just talking about issues, there's a focus on actively involving the body—a shift from the traditional talk therapy approach. It’s a move from head to heart, a move from top down, to bottom up. Embodiment in our practice can include finding relations between the body of the earth and our human bodies.
In therapy, the first step is often noticing our inner conflicts and dilemmas. Many of us understand that personal growth and peace of mind come from dealing with and working through these conflicts. Hearing a third voice or fresh perspective, and taking the time to dialogue with these tensions within ourselves, is often crucial for breaking free from stuck thinking and behavior and finding a better flow. The stuckness of black or white, this or that in good dialogue work often results in revelations of a third way.
Who am I beyond my roles and tasks? How can my dreams guide me to a more meaningful life? Can dealing with grief lead to more joy and fulfillment? What's the purpose of this precious life of mine? Digging deeper into the soul’s calling teaches us that our unconscious mind holds valuable insights. It's about unlocking our true selves and soul gifts buried beneath habitual actions and thinking. This work helps us understand our unconscious adaptations and make choices about a path forward with new awareness.
Many of the clients I work with recognize the soul even if they call it something else like spirit or Self. Regardless of what we call this depth we often arrive at crossings in life where that center is lost, buried, or suffering. These can be painful crossings, with subtle and sometimes disturbing pleas for a return to adventure, more imagination, trauma sensitivity, sharing our gifts - and pursuit of a more meaningful life.
Combining the insights of Jungian psychology with the mapping of the archetypal quest, dream and process work, and Brainspotting .... I offer myself as an ally in your re-igniting of the flame of soul.
Clients who have worked with me leave feeling more aligned with their journey, engaged with their inner voice, and eager to live the unlived life of their destiny.
“Working with Mark was a great experience. I liked his holistic approach, mediation practices, your spiritual connectedness. I felt like I was listened to and understood and felt like Mark gave me the guidance I needed to make the next steps. Working through my traumas has allowed me to live a happier and more relaxed life. If I have to recommend a therapist to anyone it would be Mark. You get to talk through everything you need to as well as learn a lot about yourself and the Universe.”

"My experience working with Mark was one of self-discovery while having to face grief and trauma, head-on. Mark listened and offered great perspective, while also helping me find some peace with the present on those most difficult days and weeks. Less than two years after losing my father, I’m about to become one, and I can’t wait to continue his loving legacy with my daughter. Really can’t wait to put the lessons he taught me to good use with her! Love always wins

"Mark was able to delve deeper in the psyche than I thought. I now understand myself more. I've been able to identify which part of me is at the surface and either utilize the archetype better or calm the negativity more efficiently. I realized I can do great harm but in the fear of that realization I learned it means I can also do great amounts of good. I was looking for someone who coould think outside the box and working with Mark exceeded my expections."
